Of the People, by the People, for the People?

February 13, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

- Free

The jury system permits all citizens to play a role in the justice system, but African Americans are disproportionately underrepresented. Felony disenfranchisement, incarceration and attachment of driver’s license suspensions to non-motor vehicle convictions all potentially have an unfair impact on who is eligible and selected for jury duty. Lindsey Draper, former circuit court commissioner for Milwaukee County, assistant state public defender, and assistant district attorney will discuss how these factors—and others—are impacting our justice system.
